The Plagiarists

Boise, ID

Straight outta Les Bois, The Plagiarists meld an indie garage rock ethos with playfully dyslexic lyrics. It’s surreal place where a song might change keys every two measures, eulogize a Plott hound in a tune commemorating the Battle of Britain, or slip a little quantum mechanics into a song about hot rods and karma (or should that be carma?). After a few changes to the cast, the current lineup came together in late 2018. Band extrovert and multi-instrumentalist Jackie Elo's vocals reverberate like an old soul with a kind heart. Jackie is happiest center stage, whether playing guitar or free bass (Yup, the band rescued its bass from a garbage can in an alley). Drummer Kacey Martinez is the heart and soul of the band keeping the rhythms tight but not too tight, since music ought to organically ebb and flow a bit. Kelsey Aldrich might have honed his guitar chops in Jazz but he remains a rocker at heart. Jason Dykstra sees music in color and adds vocals, guitar, and Bass VI to the mix. With live music curtailed last year, the band started recording. The songs kept flowing and the band loved the exciting challenge of turning their live energy and joyful racket into something tangible. In late 2021, The Plagiarists released their debut album, Supersonic Dynamite. The band hopes that you enjoy their music and that their tunes fill your heart with a little joy, make you move your feet, and set your mind adrift to wander!
