The Narrative Thread: Sewn Stories of Refugee Journeys to Idaho
Stories are the closest difference between two people; for 10 years the Idaho Commission on the Arts and Artisans For Hope have supported the telling of refugees stories of transition. Volunteers worked with newcomers to record their stories and produce story quilts: sewn pictures that translated their stories into fabric. Photos of the quilts and the stories that they are based on have been captured in a recently-release, full-color coffee table book. Story facilitator Malia Collins and refugee story tellers will present their work in front of an exhibit of the quilts. Copies of The Narrative Thread: Sewn Stories of Refugee Journeys to Idaho will be available for purchase.
