The Lock Picking Lounge (walk-up workshop)
Presented by: MacKenzie Brown Do you ever walk out of action or spy movie curious on your own capabilities to either escape (or break-in) to a locked room or locking mechanism? Well, obtaining the actual skill is not that far-fetched, and we are here to teach you the trade. Back at Hackfort by popular demand, join us for our second Hackfort appearance as The Lock Picking Lounge, an interactive space designed to give every person the chance to sit down, relax, and learn the basics of picking locks! The lounge will provide all the necessary expertise of hobbyist pros and locksmiths for teaching, supplies for picking, and even advanced challenges of real-world locks such as door/deadbolt locks (picking/shimming), bike, and trailer (coupler) locks, handcuff picking, and safe cracking. Lock Picking is for EVERYONE, of all ages, creeds, and experiences, so who's to say you can't get as obsessed with this as much as us? You never know when it will come in handy... About MacKenzie Brown: Boise-born, Idaho native, MacKenzie Brown submerses herself into Boise's tech scene, dedicating time and support to local cybersecurity and technology-based groups in the community. Her passions include bridging tech sector gaps, with a focus on areas such as women in technology, cybersecurity recruiting, and mentorship. By day, she brings both technical and research experience to her role as an Incident Response Consultant for Microsoft’s Detection and Response Team (DART). There, she works with worldwide customers, taking a deeper dive into their cybersecurity operations and environment, using the current threat intelligence of adversary techniques and tools for either proactive or reactive cybersecurity support. When she's not committed to any of these objectives, she enjoys travel, bourbon, music, cats, and friends like a normal human.
