Ten-Speed Music/Isaac Pierce
“There is a certain wistful howl that runs through the work of this Midwestern writer fully committed to connecting muse and craft.” -Robert Sarazin Blake (still true)
Ten-Speed Music/Isaac Pierce returns to Treefort 2020 with an ensemble performance. (Ben, Sutter, Paul Enebrad, et al.)
Ten-Speed Music sounds something like folk-rock though somehow functions on other levels. It stresses micro-improvisation (like a 20 nano-second Grateful Dead Jam), composition (think prog.), and often takes on a brimming spectral quality. The best of these moments have gone undocumented. (Heisenberg principle?)
TSM began as a collaboration between Pierce & Nick Alvarez (Ghost & Bell) in 2006/Chicago that was later joined by M. Thompson on Bass. (https://trustdarkness.com, Last Minute Records)
Isaac Pierce is the primary songwriter/instrumentalist for TSM as it exists on record. (currently) In Pierce’s mind the records serve as source material for performance. (process over product) He lives in Portland, OR (by way of Seattle by way of Chicago), is a father, and works as house-painter/stagehand(Local 28)/Carpenter. (i.e. Flexible jobs that pay well and allow time for parenting & music.)
Ten-Speed Music has several projects in the works.
