Originally from the town of Bignona in Casamance (Senegal) - Sana Cissokho was born into a traditional Mandingo family of Djelis/Griots where he learned to play the kora from his parents Lamine Cissokho and Ndeye Diongtang Diabaté. He grew up among the Mande people and developed a deep love for their African culture, history and traditions. His captivating stage presence enhances his ability to reach audiences from all walks of life and cultures. His music, inspired by the likes of Toumani Diabaté and Sona Jobarteh, promotes the splendor of the Manding culture. Tradition meets modernity in a fusion with jazz at the sound of the Kora, a classic African harp and the melodic voice of Sana Cissokho.
