Rebecca Sweetland

In 2013, Rebecca fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a Peace Corps volunteer in a country she had never heard of: the Commonwealth of Dominica. She served in the Community and Economic Development sector. Upon return to the U.S. in mid-2015, she began work at Peace Corps Headquarters in Volunteer Recruitment and Selection as a Diversity Specialist and then went on to be an AmeriCorps volunteer in Colorado as a reading tutor. Currently she resides in Boise, Idaho.

Prior to Peace Corps, Rebecca directed several agency-wide diversity programs in Oregon, as well as managed various state and local conflict resolution departments. In addition to training and program development in the fields of mediation and cultural competency, she also enjoyed positions in child welfare, energy and law. After college, she served as a VISTA volunteer with migrant workers in the Central Valley of California. Rebecca has a BA in Social Welfare and Corrections, with a Health Science minor, a MSW specializing in Public Policy, Administration, and Planning, and a JD. She has been deaf since age three.
