Pacific Northwest native Makayla King has been singing for as long as she can remember. She started playing instruments at 10 with violin lessons, eventually moving on to piano. The moment she wrote her first song at 15 revealed to her a whole new world of creative expression. Growing up listening to mainly church music, King wanted to push the boundaries of what she knew and write songs about her life and personal experiences. Her songs feel more like journal entries-turned-music than anything else. Inspired by artists such as Lorde, Florence and the Machine, and Phoebe Bridgers, King would describe her music as “Ballads with a pop twist”. While her debut track Lunar Eclipse has just touched down on earth, King has plans to continue releasing original music from the catalog of songs that have slowly accumulated in her journals over the years.
