Killdeer String Band
Formed in foothills of the central Washington in the Summer of 2015, the Killdeer String Band has been making a name for itself both regionally and beyond with their signature brand of energetic acoustic music. Though they’ve yet to land on a performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, they have been featured on NWPB’s Inland Folk with Dan Maher. Performing at farmer’s markets, folk festivals, brew fests and other cultural events, the Killdeer String Band is best described as refreshing compost of European folk styles ranging from Celtic to Nordic to Klezmer. This four piece offers an occasional tip of the hat to their NW roots and their disparate musical proclivities by weaving indie, prog rock, Middle-Eastern folk music and classic heavy metal and prog rock into their sonic fabric. Whether it’s an Irish jig or an instrumental cover of Tom Sawyer, the Killdeer String Band explores the delicious boundaries of instrunmental acoustic music.
