Hurdy Gurdy Girls
Petticoats, pistols, music, miners, and dancing….The Hurdy Gurdy Girls of the late 1800’s saw it all. These ladies lived a rugged life in the untamed, gem laden mountains of Idaho, entertaining miners by playing music and then dancing with the men after the show. Idaho was built on the richness of a mining history. ….but wait!……There’s still gold in them there hills and the Hurdy Gurdy Girls are still around.
Hurdy Gurdy Girls is an all girl band from Hailey, Idaho performing original songs steeped in the old-time music tradition and peppered with an outlaw country feel. Their songs are about burning desires, life’s tough decisions, family, and of course, finding your way to the mountains we call home. The music will give you an porch swinging feeling mixed with a honky-tonk vibe, and it will always leave you feeling good and tapping your toes. HGG formed five years ago with Annie Maude on fiddle and mandolin, Natalie Rose driving the train with her stand up bass, Joy Lee on guitar and vocals, and Erika Dawn on drums.
Hurdy Gurdy Girls are committed to grassroots music ard the arts. We support local musicians, local music events, and local music stores. We believe in showing up to support our fellow musicians and in return, we get inspiration for our art. We also believe in building communities where we can discuss music, goals, and learn from one another. You will find members of the HGG performing with other locals bands such as Lower Broadford Boys and PattyWagon, as well as sitting in with other bands at local festivals and open mics. Come out to experience the music of the Hurdy Gurdy Girls….you might even get a dance afterwards!
