Nestled among the cliffs of Italy’s Adriatic coast lies a series of man-made caves, carved over generations by a group of fishermen known as the ‘grottaroli’. There, the sound of the waves becomes one with the ticking of time, as the last of the grottaroli reflect on their love for the sea. He started making skate videos in the streets of Paris during his high school years and never gave up his camera. Alternating between commercial work and passion projects, he is now working on a short fiction film. Cecilia Pignocchi is an Italian visual artist and creative based in Amsterdam. She's interested in exploring the planet we live in reflecting on the beauty and complexity of human nature. Grottaroli is her first film and takes place in the town where she was born.
