Childspeak was formed in 2014 and at the time, all that was known was that in lieu of a singer would exist an A/V “front-creature” for the instrumentalists to dance around like banshees. Three years and several turns later, the group found that its formula of post-passive-progressive math rock is able to speak volumes (always at 11) without a human voice. Bri, Derek, TJ and Michael play sounds from a coloring book and music that colors between the lines to delight and leave the audience in a childlike state of wonder that can only be accomplished in the absence of genres and expectations.
Childspeak’s energetic performances and unique dark roast blend of progressive, post and math rock has allowed them to weave between genres and resulted in sharing the stage with prog-fathers King Crimson, math rock legends Giraffes? Giraffes! and PNW post rock sweethearts This Patch Of Sky. Their first album, “Day Dream Sparkle Party”, is currently available on Bandcamp and Spotify and their second full length is set to release in March 2019.
