What happens when you combine the female forces behind projects such as Duover, Orquestra Pacifico Tropical, Point Juncture WA, Miss Rayon, Bridal Veil, and Sallie Ford? This is where Bitch’n brews. The seasoned, all-woman punk-meets-funk five-piece came together in spring 2015, recording epic, succinct free jams for their first EP, Messed Out.
Bitch’n has since grown into a kind of stubborn adulthood – their newest creations filled with intention and demanding energy. Their stage presence is undeniable with the newest fiery addition of bassist Jenny Logan (Deathlist, Miss Rayon, president of XRAY FM). Meanwhile, the founding members Rebecca Rasmussen, Amanda Spring, Emily Overstreet, and Shana Lindbeck are boldly carrying the torch as the band steps into production of their first full length album, Let’s Get Easy (coming in 2019).
Bitch’n is equal parts Fugazi and Tom Tom Club, with the playfulness of Dirty Projectors and Hot Chip, keeping it bumpin’ with catchy songs accented by dark bass, psych-pop guitars and keys, driving drum beats, and all five women’s voices singing and sometimes shouting or rapping in unison. Experimental in nature, Bitch’n expertly weave a tapestry through their songs, keeping the project from falling into a single box, while simultaneously following an energetic, cohesive thread.
