Growing up in a musical family in Moscow, Idaho, Ben Walden got his start performing on harmonica as a young kid. Since then, he has become an in-demand musician in the Pacific Northwest, playing country-influenced lead guitar on tour with groups such as Bart Budwig, Caitlin Jemma and the Goodness, and the Joseph Hein Band and recording sessions for a variety of artists.
Ben Walden’s solo project is an eclectic and virtuosic blend of psychedelic freak folk, old timey folk, and jazz. His music draws influence from American traditions as well as from Celtic music, Brazilian forró, and North African desert blues. His lyrics reference local environmentalist politics and the culture of outlaws from both the present day and past.
