Ashley Ahearn is an award-winning journalist who has covered natural resources and science for NPR and member stations for almost two decades. Her work has aired on Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Marketplace, Science Friday and others. She has produced 4 successful podcast series for NPR and member stations, including Terrestrial, a climate change podcast, Grouse, about sage grouse and what they can teach us about the urban-rural divide in the West, Women’s Work, which showcased women ranchers who are adopting more holistic land and livestock management practices, and Mustang, her latest series, which explores the controversial issue of wild horse management. Ashley lives in rural Washington state with her husband and dog where she herds cows for local ranchers and trains mustangs.
