Alefort 2019 is gonna be fresh!
Alefort is the beer, cider, and food tasting component of Treefort Music Fest. Alefort aims to present unique and high-quality food and beverage experiences that illuminate the intersection of beer and cuisine with Boise’s greater culture.
Alefort has changed up a few things for its eighth year, including a new layout, a creatively-curated food menu, a one-day Basque presentation, and a new brewer — Barley Brown’s Beer — for Alefort’s specialty beer, Fresh AF. Some of the old Alefort favorites will remain, like the Alefort Nail Pull and fresh pours to taste from local and regional breweries.
As always, those drinking at Alefort will need to bring or purchase a reusable cup. Alefort is located near the Treefort Main Stage in the Owyhee parking lot and is free and open to the public (age 21+) Friday through Sunday of Treefort 8.
ALEFORT 2019 BEER BARS
This year in Alefort, attendees will find beers organized in bars rather than by brewery. There will be the Alefort Presents Bar, the Brewhouse Bar, and four additional bars organized by beer type. Each brewery will be paired with a bar that gives them the opportunity to showcase their best, most unique beer in that category.
Alefort strives to introduce good beer to you but we’re also here to help you understand the process and ingredients that go into making the beer you love. To understand the effort behind the making of beer is to appreciate the craft that much more. So…. if you’re a New Belgium fan? AWESOME. Sip on your fave from New Belgium PLUS compare it with breweries you may have never heard of. Bottom line, you get to love on your go-to beers and make room for new beer buddies!

Friday: Yeast Switch-a-roo
Each component of the beer-making process can drastically change the result. Alefort is challenging participating breweries to take one of their flagship beers, switch the yeast, and make something just as delicious as the original. Those who truly know what it is to make craft beer will enthusiastically take on this challenge. The result? Aleforters get to try beer exclusively made for Alefort and gain a better appreciation for how much specific ingredients can make a difference in the overall process.
Saturday: Orval Day
Benjamin Franklin said, “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” Orval takes Franklin’s observation to a divine level by adhering to the wishes of the monastic community. Since the 1930s, Orval has been recognized as one of the most successful Trappist breweries in the world with production of only one beer… ever. Each year on Orval Day, which falls on Saturday of Alefort, a donation based on sales in the U.S. is given to a designated charity.
Coffee + beer = a brunch beverage made in heaven. Sunday’s Alefort Bar will feature coffee-roasted beers by Woodland Empire Craft Ale, which pairs perfectly with your favorite brunch foods from local eateries.
Each section of this bar will have beers that highlight the ingredients or process used to make beer. Its intent is to cultivate an appreciation for what makes good beer…the hard work that goes into it.

Alefort is serving up a brand new, locally-curated menu of grub that’ll go perfectly with your beer.
FRIDAY: Boise Taco Takeover
Right now, Boise Tacos are A THING. Is it a passing fad or the pinnacle Idaho dining?
Alefort asks the big questions, examines the Boise taco-ssance, and invites you to join. The Taco Takeover features fresh tortillas pressed and cooked on site by Calle 75 and Diablo & Sons. From there, 6 restaurants, show the Boise taco scene is with fillings both traditional & new Idahoan.
Txotx (pronounced Choch), is both the method for cider service in traditional Basque cider houses (Squirting out the side of a giant barrel) and an old school party cry for everyone to drink a bunch of cider together. Txotx AF is that, inside Alefort, and a celebration of traditional Basque cider culture as well as unique Basque-Boise culture.
Recovery is the name of the game on Sunday. Ease into the last day of festivities with Alefort’s Sunday Roast. Coffee-roasted beers, brunch offered by Foodfort, and a hilarious light-hearted roast of Treefort by those giggly guys and gals of Comedyfort.

Barley Brown’s Beer is creating Fresh AF 2019, a Alefort’s specialty IPA. A limited run of Fresh AF 2019 will be canned on-site on a mobile canning line, marking the first and only time Barley Brown’s will can its beer. Get it while it’s fresh!
