Magic Sword – Treefort 2013, 2014, 2015, current Duck Club Touring artist
Rumors of the true identity behind Magic Sword began swirling in 2012 when one of the masked, anonymous producer’s tracks surfaced on a radio station in Boise. Magic Sword’s debut album quietly found its way onto store shelves, but as word about the project spread through the region, copies of the debut record quickly sold out. Magic Sword made its live debut to a packed venue at the 2013 Treefort Music Fest. Over the next year-and-a-half, Magic Sword brought capacity crowds to downtown Boise’s biggest clubs and shared bills with the likes of Odesza and Slow Magic. Following a series of street-level guerrilla concerts in Portland as well as a few tracks getting placed in GoPro’s “Streets of Japan” documentary, Magic Sword entered 2015 to a flurry of international interest surrounding the act’s involvement with the hotly anticipated video game Hotline Miami 2. Still maintaining the veil of anonymity, Magic Sword’s debut album Volume One was re-released in early 2015.
Willis Earl Beal – current Duck Club Touring artist
Singer-songwriter Willis Earl Beal honed his hypnotic brand of lo-fi, soulful blues on his latest album, Noctunes (Tender Loving Empire). This 12-song album finds Beal downbeat, softer and more vulnerable than his previous works; exploring ambient and minimalist aesthetics. Receiving acclaims from SPIN, The Guardian, NME, Consequence of Sound, etc. Noctunes shows this mercurial artist branching out once again into new musical territory.
Street Fever – Treefort 2013, 2014, 2015
This Boise native turns out dark, synth heavy beats that veer into the avant garde and experimental realms. Known for bashing keyboards, Street Fever stages intense performances with a rotating cast of collaborators. His debut EP Afflictions, released last month via Keats//Collective, has garnered attention from a wide spectrum of critics.
Sun Blood Stories – Treefort 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, current Duck Club Touring artist
High desert rockers Sun Blood Stories continuously entrance audiences with their psychedelic musical journeys. Their newest album, Twilight Midnight Morning, has received much praise for its ambient overlayed textures, hypnotic basslines, haunting vocals, tribal drums, and intense guitar work.
Foul Weather – Treefort 2015, current WavePOP Records artist
Foul Weather is a space jazz band from Boise, Idaho that recently hit the road with Youth Lagoon on a Northwest mini-tour. The trio creates a cosmic storm that transports the listener through the loungey, slinky Sixties and the freaky new wave synths found deep in the Eighties. The band consists of Jeremy Stewart, Danny Kerr and Logan Hyde. Their debut album Soft Opening features Stewart’s churning keys paired with Kerr and Hyde’s afrobeat/jazz-informed rhythm section.
Crystal Ghost – Treefort 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015
Formerly known as CC/NN Denver-based producer/vocalist Elliott Baker now goes by Crystal Ghost. Baker has constructed his own world through sound, illustration, and design. Baker’s work explores fantasy in the everyday, combining disco-inspired productions with earnest lyricism. He’s been touring in support of his debut EP released on Stereocure last year.
Bollywood Life – Treefort 2015
A pseudonym for the solo performer Anton Krueger, Bollywood Life is a Colorado-based artist known for electrifying and hypnotic beats. Krueger has toured as the visual artist for Slow Magic, but has recently broken out into the electronic scene as a solo performer. His newest EP MANYA is available now on Shoeboxx Recordings.
