We’re kicking off the festival in true Treefort spirit — with a freakin’ rocknroll ballet. One part dance and one part live music, this unique performance will knock your socks off when Ballet Idaho is paired with local psych rockers Thick Business at the Mardi Gras (6pm). Followed by a night of lo-fi singer songwriters like psychedelic synth pop Logan Hyde, anthem darling Lucy Dacus, and the haunting tunes of Your Friend, sad-pop from Porches and the gangly sounds of Philly’s Alex G.
Head over to Neurolux for an the extra loud and heavy night with party band Orphan Goggles, experimental meditative rockers Weeed, and grandmasters of psychedelia Acid Mothers Temple. Catch the third installment of the History of Boise Rock down at the famed El Korah Shrine, with a stellar lineup of what-used-to-be-local bands that haven’t played together in ages. We’ve been developing this U21 group over the past few months in cahoots with Boise Rock School to inspire and enable a handful of young adults involvement in the local music scene. Check out their special lineup at Watercolor (6-11pm).
Then, cap off night one with cutting edge rhythms at Fatty’s, featuring California DJs J.Phlip, Urple Eeple, plus many more.
Catch screenings from three Idaho filmmakers, Idaho’s Forgotten War (4pm), Carbon (6:20), and Smoke (6:50)
